The recent hikes in petroleum prices—recently topping $144 a barrel for sweet crude—and the subsequent high gas prices, have hit drivers hard the world over.  Most news outlets predict the cost to continue to rise, but only Truthahol can report the elevated fuel costs are the direct result of oil hoarding.

An oil industry employee, who requested she remain anonymous for her safety, recently contacted Truthahol.  This source works on a large oil platform off Canada's Atlantic coast and reported strange events taking place on her last three-week shift aboard the rig.  According to Truthahol's deep source, crude oil is being pumped off the tanker vessels visiting the platform.  The final destination of that oil is the subject of this article.

According to the theory of Hurbbert's Peak, the rate of petroleum production will always follow a bell-shaped curve.  Given recent production drop offs and reports of diminishing reserves, one can only assume we have reached—or surely will soon reach—the top of the curve.  Oil will become increasingly expensive to remove from the ground, meaning a reduced availability.  Analysis of the rules of supply and demand tells us that oil prices will rise at this point, but  skyrocketing production costs will skim profits to a nonexistent level.  (Case in point: the Hansen Writing Ball manufacturing industry during the 1880's.)

However, anyone holding a large stockpile of oil would stand to make a great deal of money.  Even at today's prices, oil is an excellent investment for those who can hold onto large secret supplies.  Simply hiding the oil away will push oil prices higher due to a rapidly increasing demand.  Importantly, the venture requires the appearance of low supplies for payoff, which explains the backwards extraction on our source’s platform.  What better place to hide a ridiculous amount of oil then the very place we have such difficulty finding it?   This unnamed corporation has for years employed subterranean methods in its oil extraction, but this recently revealed venture is a new low, both literally and figuratively.

Of course this practice is highly unethical, if not illegal, but Truthahol cannot name the source of information for fear of retaliation.  Certainly any organization willing to hoard oil at such a vital time would stop at nothing to keep its secret; and certainly any organization able to find a valuable liquid far below the earths surface (and also hide it there again) is a resourceful one not to be trifled with.  Truthahol will continue to protect—through concealment—the valuable resource who provided us this information.  At least until an affordable, and environmentally safe, extraction method can be found.
